University courses and further medical training

Each country has its own organisation
France provides the greatest diversity in public or private training. Eight schools of medicine - Besançon, Bordeaux, Lille, Limoges, Lyon, Marseille, Paris-Nord, Poitiers – offer post-university training in homeopathy. This training leads to a diploma in homeopathic medicine after 2 or 3 years of study (university diploma for the schools of medicine). The Position Statement of the French Medical Board recommends the integration of training on homeopathic drugs in medical studies.
Students in medicine, generalists or specialists, whether in private practice or in a hospital, have a number of possibilities of studying homeopathy.
In Spain, and Italy, training in homeopathy is essentially private although courses are developing in the universities.
In Spain, for over 15 years, the training has been provided in collaboration with the most prestigious universities (Salamanca, Seville, Valladolid, Murcia) or in collaboration with the Medical Board (Alicante, Valencia...).
In Great Britain, the London Faculty of Homeopathy, restricted to health professionals, defines the broad outlines of the programmes, organises the exams and grants the diplomas. It accredits and inspects the British training centres (Royal London Homeopathic Hospital, Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital, Oxford Hospital) as well as the courses and diplomas granted in India and the Republic of South Africa.
In the United States, the universities of Maryland, Columbia, Arizona, San Francisco, New York and California, as well as the Harvard Medical School, have centres or divisions of "complementary medicine" where information about homeopathy is provided.
Russia, after years of private development, is opening up to homeopathy in its university training.
In Poland, training in homeopathy for doctors and pharmacists is organised in eight faculties: Academy of Medicine in Warsaw, Karol Marcinkowski Academy of Medicine in Poznan, Collegium Medicum at Jagellonne University in Cracow, Silesian Academy of Medicine in Katowica, Academy of Medicine in Lublin, Academy of Medicine in Gdansk, Academy of Medicine in Wroclaw.
In Romania, The Romanian Institute for Advanced Post-University Training for Medical Personnel organises, with the support of the Rumanian Homeopathy Society, training in homeopathy in the form of three year modules.
In Inde, two national teaching programmes have been set up to provide uniform training in all of the states.
In Latin America, the situation varies: homeopathy tends to gain official status in Argentina.
In Brazil, it is a speciality integrated in the National Health System and is included in the programme at certain universities.
In Mexico, the teaching of homeopathy is provided by the National School of Medicine and Homeopathy, dependant on the National Polytechnical Institute of Mexico. La Antiquera University in Oaxaco also provides training (post-grad).
On the African continent, homeopathy is taking its first steps, in particular in Tunisia
and Morocco, as well as in the Republic of South Africa
where two centres called “technikons” (Durban, Johannesburg) train naturopaths in homeopathy.
